Summit Library Chinese Club
About Us
To promote diversity and multiculturalism in our community and introduce Chinese culture and traditions to the next generation, a group of dedicated moms from Summit, NJ, and nearby areas organized the first Lunar New Year celebration at the Summit Public Library in 2013. This event has since become a cherished tradition and a signature program of the library and the community in and around Summit.
Our 2019 Summit Library Lunar New Year Cultural Week was honored with the New Jersey State Library Multicultural Program Award, highlighting its significant impact on the community. In July 2019, we also established the Summit Library Chinese Club (75 号俱乐部), a volunteer-led organization that collaborates closely with the Summit Library to organize events celebrating Chinese and Asian cultures.
Our offerings include
Annual Lunar New Year celebrations
monthly Chinese Corner for children in grades K-5, an immersion program with culture and traditional activities
Math & Science Clubs for children led by volunteers from BrightYouth, our Teen Club.
Activity & Hobby Clubs: Chess, Rubik’s Cube, Dungeons & Dragons, Chinese Calligraphy & Painting
Summer activities for middle and high school students
Events for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
Fund raising and donation drives for local charities
Chinese children's book donations for Summit Free Public Library
a neighborhood little free library for used Chinese books
We’re excited to continue fostering cultural understanding and connection in our community!
